Picture the scene — rolling hillside, luscious green valleys and sky-high mountains. Snowdonia is a sight to behold, and tucked away in the heart of the national park is the Trefriw Wells Spa, the unique source of Spatone® Iron-Rich Water.

For 200 years, millions around the world have used this naturally sourced iron-rich water but that’s not where the story begins. It all started with its discovery by sulfur mining Roman legions around 100-250 AD.

In the early 1700s, the spa was extensively used by locals who opted to bathe in the iron infused spa water rather than drink it. By 1833 demand was so high that it was officially turned into a bathhouse.

In 1873 the Victorian pump room and bathhouse was built, and the naturally sourced water was bottled and sold commercially for the first time as Spatone Iron+. From 1875-1959 it became so popular that it was sold in Central Africa, Australia, the Americas and all over Europe.

Fast forward to 2003, Nelsons became the owner of Trefriw Wells Spa and renamed Spatone Iron+ to Spatone®. Since then, Spatone® has been available to health and wellness seekers worldwide.
